June 30, 2006 - Ojek

Ojek, Jakarta - Indonesia
Ojek is one of our public transportation. Yes, you can get around Jakarta much faster with motorcycles. You could go through narrow alleys and avoid the traffic jams! Those guys are sitting there waiting for customers. They charge more than busses but sometimes it’s worth your time.

June 29, 2006 - Dry Cleaner

Dry Cleaner, Jakarta - Indonesia¼br /> I rarely go and do my laundry in a dry cleaner place unless it’s a very delicate fabric which needs special treatment. This is one of the price list. The cost varies in different places, but somewhat on the same range. (US$1.00 = Rp 9400)

June 28, 2006 - Water Fun

Family Park, Jakarta - Indonesia
This is a great place to bring your kids. The front part is very shallow, while at the back they have swimming pool as well. It’s called Alam Sutera Family Park and located in Tangerang, which is not that far from Jakarta. And you can get there faster by using the toll way.

June 27, 2006 - Street Vendor

this is probably the most popular street food vendor in indonesia, selling meatball soup. it serves with rice clear noodles or the yellow noodle or sometimes both, in a clear broth soup. they can be found on the streets, travelling from one alley to another, or parked near the office buildings, school areas, etc.

recently, there was a local tv program broadcasting a rumor that they made the meatballs out of rat’s meat. soon, people were avoiding to buy these meatball soups from the vendors, creating protests from the sellers. of course, noone really knows if it’s true or not, but soon after, city officials & local celebrities worked on a campaign by consuming the meatball soup from the street vendors to show that the info was just nothing but destructive rumor.

thanks for the welcome greeting from the daily photo family! this will be my premier posting and it’s been an honor to be invited. i hope i won’t disappoint you.. ;)
