I’ve posted about public phone before. I came across these two. They look really lonely and untouched. Especially because everyone has a cellphone nowadays.

May 27, 2007 - Fruit Pie

Keropokman decided to stay anonymous, so all apologies.. I couldn’t show his face here

We met briefly and had these wonderful fruit pies. He was so kind to let me eat the strawberry one! So, there you go… if not his face, then his crisp shot of food will do, eh?

Not a Jakarta picture yet, please bear with me   

These are the boats used by hundreds of the vietnamese refugees when they reached Galang island. I can only imagine how the men, women and children all cramped in inside those small boats.

May 25, 2007 - Galang Island - Batam

Not a Jakarta picture yet, please bear with me  

Stopped by at Batam last week and went to an island called Galang. A place where vietnamese refugees anchored down their boats after months of sailing the South China Sea searching for a safer place away from the war. Some of the vietnamese survived and lived in Galang island, while a large number of them died in the sea during their journey to freedom. The picture is of a temple built in the complex.
