January 29, 2008 - People instructed to hoist flag half mast for Soeharto

The government has instructed all national flags to be flown at half-mast for the next week in recognition of the death of former president Soeharto.

January 28, 2008 - RIP: Indonesian Former President H. M. Soeharto died at 86

Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rojiun. Deep condolences for the loss of former Indonesian President, H. M. Soeharto. He died at 86 on 27 January, 2008. May his soul rest in peace.

What I remember the most about this man is his smile. He’s the smiling General. (Okay, and many other things but… I’ll let other people discuss it though)

On the early stage of his sickness, Goldy’s aunt who visited him told me that the-once-powerful-man-on-Indonesia whispered, “Aku wis kesel” (I’m already tired).

Worry no more. Now you can rest, Pak Harto.

I capture television news this afternoon, showing Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, praying for the late Soeharto at his residence on Cendana Street.

Many motorcycle users in Indonesia ‘forgot’ to wear helmet. It’s not that they didn’t care for their safety. Sometimes it’s simply because they have already put a more stylish something on their head.
