God’s garden

img_04011

In Jakarta, Every Man is God’s gardener. Next time you’re stuck in the macet, take a look around you. There are plants everywhere, and sometimes in the most unlikely places. To someone who hails from a much cooler climate, it is amazing how fast everything grows. The small lotus pond that we installed a few months ago continues to flower. Perfectly formed tear-drop buds emerge from the water, swell to the size of small orange before bursting open. It will be a few more days before these two are ready to open.

Though It’s common to see lotus in Beijing, esp in July and August, I really appreciate lotus in Bogor Botanical Garden. Though coming from the mud, lotus is not polluted, so that’s why In China, lotus is a symbol of virtue. :)
