To the slaughter

Old B4 is not long for this world. Next week he will be slaughtered in a re-enactment of a millennium-old Muslim tradition. Idul Adha is quite the festival here in Jakarta, rivaling Idul Fitri. If you happen to be out and about on Friday, I suggest you keep your eyes firmly on the road. This holy day is not for the squeamish.

    Even I, as a muslim, don’t like the ‘penyembelihan’ part. But the ‘qurban’ has a deeper message. Just need to find the simplest and softest way to explain it to my boys.
